The Sanggajjhaي, the Aśītama Mahāsāvak of fortune, is an arhat among the 80 Aśītama Mahāsāvakas in the teachings of the Buddha Gotama. He is praised as a prominent teacher who elaborates succinctly. Mahākajjhāya has another name: Kāḍjana (or Kāḍjanā). In Japan he is commonly known as "Kasennen" (Kasennen). In Thailand, besides the Pali name, he is also known as "Phra Sangkajjāyā" or "Phra Sangkrajāy"

Sanggajjhāyā has a stout, round belly, symbolizing abundance and fortune. He is one of the great monks, classified among the 41 great disciples, and among the 80 arahants, he is the only one whose image is prominently crafted. The tradition of crafting Sanggajjhāyā temples/ statues is widespread. In Mahāyāna and Hinayāna Chinese Sanggajjhāyā statues, especially Chinese, are especially popular in China and abroad, with the belief that "Whoever venerates Sanggajjhāyā will be most fortunate, blessed with wealth, rank, and prosperity."

“Kajjhāyā, the Great Elder, Buddha, to the Buddhas, to the Buddhas’ Bodhi, to the Buddhas’ Enlightenment, to the Buddha’s Supreme Virtue, to the Buddhas’ Precious Virtue, to the Buddhas’ Enlightenment, who has approached enlightenment, the revered, beloved divine beings and humans, may I honor them with utmost respect. May I be blessed, may the gods and humans hear me. May I recognize the ultimate truth. May I attain supreme joy. I bow, I bow, I bow, I bow, I bow.”
